When Chad was four years old, he started performing skits and sang made up songs for his large family which includes three brothers, a sister and a half- brother. At the age of 15, he got an injury while playing football which landed him in a Hospital where a nurse encouraged him to become an actor or model.
After two years, he won a scholarship from a modeling agency in Buffalo to attend a modeling convention in Orlando where an agent from Los Angeles persuaded Chad to pursue his dream of acting.

In 1999, he supported himself modeling for such clients as Sketchers, Tommy Hilfiger and Gucci while looking for a break. Chad appeared as a guest star in several television shows including an episode of “Diagnosis Murder” (1993). In 2000, The WB’s Gilmore Girls was casting for the role of Tristan DuGrey.
They were looking for a guy who was likable and charismatic and who had that certain ‘IT’ quality. Chad had the perfect physical characteristics that the writers had in their thinking. And finally, Chad won this role and became a part of ‘Gilmore Gils’. He appeared on ‘One Tree Hill’ as Lucas Scott a loner, who was deserted at birth with his mother
He likes Edward Norton, Leonardo DiCaprio, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Sean Penn and tries to use their influences in his work. Chad is a natural athlete. He played his favorite sport, football, in high school and keeps himself fit by working out at the gym. He likes skating, playing soccer, volleyball and basketball. He is an anti-drug role model for kids and is active in charities for children and teens during his spare time.
He married Sophia Bush on April 16th, 2005.
