In a time when every celebrity in Hollywood seems to have a cause worth fighting for, Sophia Bush has also decided to jump in the bandwagon by promoting the need to take care of the environment. The drop-dead gorgeous One Tree Hill actress, who is famous for her role of Lucas’ love interest, Brooke Davis, has been up to a lot in regards to her newfound ‘cause.’
To start with, she’s turned to social networking sites like Twitter, which she had previously completely shunned due to privacy issues. She is using the micro-blogging site as a platform to connect with her fans and urge them to contribute their bit towards making the world a better place.
While that’s really thoughtful and considerate of her, we think that the actress has taken her passion a tad too far, by talking about her love for the environment practically wherever she goes. Her fans got a major chunk of the preachy talk that she’s becoming known for, at the recent ‘Do Something Awards’.
She got into an elaborate discussion about how important it is for us to take care of our environment, and took it all a bit too far, as she said that she believed that the environment is linked to issues like women empowerment.
Now, if you’re wondering where that bizarre connection comes from, here goes the explanation- according to Sophia, by not being environment-conscious, we are contributing to the menace of global warming. This in turn, is causing droughts and famines in places like Africa. And it is in these famines that women are forced to live at the brink of poverty. Now I must say that’s quite some link!
The actress has taken the entire matter to an all-new level by helping in the invention of a recyclable water bottle with an in-built filter, which she has been enthusiastically endorsing. Even though we aren’t quite sure about whether Sophia is making any worthwhile contribution to the cause, we’ve got to give it to her for putting her brains to good use! Till we wait to see how far this enthusiasm goes, you can keep yourself entertained by tuning in to One Tree Hill episodes starring the dainty damsel.
